David Vigar : writing & communications about me speech writing copywriting communications strategy blogs and articles

In promoting examples of my work I have to make clear that these are not 'my' speeches but the speakers'. My job is not to hand a speaker my own thoughts, written in my style - but to provide them with their thoughts, written in their style. That is why I place such an emphasis on being fully briefed.

When drafting speeches I believe it is important to work closely with the speaker and experts in the client organisation so that we can achieve a blend of top-quality content and fluent style. My contribution is to give the speech structure, to help dig out the best content and to craft many of the words. But I also believe that each speech should include the speaker’s own words and personality. The following examples are speeches in which I have been involved. I have many more recent examples which I can send to anyone who is interested in seeing more.

on human rights

on telecoms

on gas

on safety in the energy industry

on young people and engineering

A ‘few words’
Finally here are some extracts from various shorter speeches, not the major set-pieces, but after-dinner speeches or lines from the ‘few words’ which senior people often have to come up with on formal occasions.
